My Comeback Story: Allen Z.

Feeling Great

In the spring of 2024 started feeling some pain while on a hike. It continued to get worse as I tried stretching, different exercises and even physical therapy. I initially thought it wasn't that bad and I could live with the pain until one day I saw myself on the doorbell camera walking out of our house. I actually thought who is that guy hobbling across my porch and then realized it was me!

Finally on a routine visit to Mayo, they took and X-ray and discovered bone on bone in the right hip joint. When a hip replacement was first discussed, I assumed they would do it for me. After months of frustration waiting to get an initial appointment, a friend suggested Flagstaff Bone & Joint. I called and had an appointment within days and things progressed quickly. Within a couple of months I was scheduled for surgery. I showed up in late April of 2025 and spent 4 hours in the surgery center before heading to the car with my walker, and then Canes to get some chicken! Recovery was fairly quick with the the worst part being the leg pumper upper devices I had to wear for two weeks. I was back to work in a few weeks, climbing a ladder in about four, and just 4 1/2 months after surgery, I was on a wakeboard. I can't thank Dr. Ludwig and the entire staff at Flagstaff Bone & Joint enough. I'm very active but didn't realize just how much my hip was holding me back. It's so nice to have pain free, full mobility again! I highly recommend them. Thanks to all.
