Progression of Knee Osteoarthritis
The development and progression of knee osteoarthritis is a complex process, but usually begins with a mechanical insult or injury, which over time results in abnormalities of the cellular and biochemical processes that eventually result in the joint wearing down and degenerating. Damage to any of the three major elements of the knee joint can cause osteoarthritis.
